alt-j. a-mazing song. a-mazing video.

to the wedding

the late summer season has put me amidst a whirr of wedding frenzy. congratulations to my lovely friend jo and her new husband abner, and to jen & rory as well. coincidentally i happened to find myself reading a book titled To the Wedding by john berger.

a story told by a blind man, who with his enhanced hearing, can perceive moments and feelings happening all over the world. a web of human stories of happiness, lust, sadness, anger, wonder, shock, self-realization and of course, love.  an easy, quick, and beautiful read: a perfect kind of book.

mia

havn't been keeping up to date with MIA but so glad i came across this video. MIA.. i have always wanted to marry you, but now, it is for sure. she is one of the most strong, powerful, gorgeous and influential women who is actually DOING SOMETHING with their fame. she also has damn good style and flow to boot. the video is also incredible [as usual] and was made for female empowerment in the woman to drive movement. the video is beautiful, ironic and quite powerful.

care bears on fire

although i didn't care for them much before [[although i am an avid believer in all girl punk bands]] i really love carebears on fire ' s cover of  'every body wants to rule the world' by 80s new wave band tears for fears.  unfortunately i may be one of the only souls out there who enjoys the cover...oh well girls, keep rockin'.

another travellin' song

a few weeks ago, a few-week journey, to a few eastern-euro countries with a few photo results.

budapest>>bucharest>>istanbul>>

the company was grand; yann, and everyone we met along the way: on the trains, in the hostels,
at the restaurants and of course, in their homes.
which they so humbly and wonderfully welcomed us into.
[[couchsurfing is incredible]]

these are the only pictures of us together, taken by a man who came and stole my camera to take a picture, then gave it back >>^^
what my brain looked like during the trip ^ ^ [[and always probably]]

music. always. >>

a bag full of

azulejos

been trying my hand at portuguese tiling..or 'azulejos'. a staple in Portuguese cityscapes and a tradition that has been going strong for over 500 years. originally brought over by the moors, the tradition of geometric or simple floral designs has emerged into not only folk designs like roosters but into grand, intricate wall murals, now found all over the world in other portuguese [ and spanish] colonies.

a while ago i completed a wall mural for Pipa Restaurant + Bar [my fams gig].

but more recently i've been getting into proper tile making. here are some 4x4 drink coasters. coasters, tabletop inserts, back-splashes, murals are available for commission.

since i've been posting a lot about other traditional Mediterranean countries' folk music.. why not a little from my own! an amazing tune [/sucker for choruses]!

WijeratneWorks

A lovely friend Dinuk Wijeratne is the epitome of an amazing musician; a conductor, composer and pianist who has already made his big debut at carnegie hall [2004].  he has recently been collaborating with Dj skratch bastid to create only what one could classify as magical ear orgasm producing sounds.

check out this track from WijerateWorks [ but don't stop there, check out Dinuk's other stuff too!]

i am extremely honoured to know such a guy, and he is also a strong supporter of my artwork. thanks dinuk, for sharing your coveted cookie that one rainy day.
